Bible Search / Bible Speed Search
Are you searching for a particular Bible passage but only vaguely know the topic and context? Have you read something and anticipate that an affiliation of biblical traditions or an allusion has taken place? SESB provides you with professional search tools and a clear and variable presentation of search results.
If, for example, you are searching for the parable of the sower you can quickly find the passage with your SESB. Under Search in the menu bar choose Bible Search and in the new window enter one or more keywords, which you assume to be in your text. In our example this would be “parable seeds”.
All search tools provide the use of search operators like OR, AND, NOT etc. When you search for “parable AND seed” it will list all verses with both terms together. Choose “Chapters or Sections” and both terms will be searched within a chapter (not just within a verse).
It is useful to select “All Available Bibles” in the Bibles drop down list because phrases might differ between translations, and you also attain a greater probability of relevant hits. In Range you can specify the search range by limiting the search to specific books or keep it broad. Your search result will be displayed variably in every search tool and can be exported and printed as a verse list.
For an even faster search the Bible Speed Search offers results simultaneously to your inquiry. However, here all search terms have to occur within one verse. Choose a Bible version, for example The New International Version (NIV), and in the Search field enter one or more search terms – the results will be listed during your input and can be limited by entering additional search terms.
